RWAustralia members at the RWAmerica Nationals!

Mel Scott is a finalist in the Paranormal category for the Golden Heart and Bronwyn Clarke is a finalist in the Romantic Suspense. So when their names are called out, I want all of you who are sitting in the auditorium to yell out “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oy, Oy Oy!” Just so that they feel at home. And when they win you can do it again.

(Kristen Painter is also a finalist in the Paranormal category and since she’s a Romance Diva, you can cheer her too :-) )

And the wonderful Barbara Hannay and Marion Lennox (x2!) are both up for the best Traditional Romance in the RITAs. So more cheering for them!

Actually, you can cheer for lots of wonderful writers. Jo Leigh is in the RITAs for Romantic Suspense and so is Allison Brennan along with JD Robb. Tough pick.

Wish I was there but I’m saving up my pennies for next year at San Francisco. Watch out San Fran, the Aussies are coming!

Novella accepted by Cobblestone!

My new novella, Familiar Strangers, has been accepted by Cobblestone Press. It’s a lovers reunited story and has a touch of suspense. Don’t have a release date yet.

My computer is at the doctor again which is a major pain in the neck. Even though I have a laptop that I can hook up to the net, it’s so irritating not to have lots of my files. I’m pretty good at backing up my wips so I have access to them, but old emails and bits and pieces I don’t have access to. And this computer is turning out to be a major problem. A friend and I bought our computers at the same time from the same place and got exactly the same type of computer. She’s having the same problem I am. Our computers even broke down on the same day. Then after they were fixed, six weeks later both froze again. Not happy Narelle (a popular culture reference that only makes sense to Australians).

Currently I’ve started a romantic suspense wip, which I’m planning to make my second full novel over 80k (the first one is in a cyber draw and will never see the light of day). It won’t be an erotic romance I don’t think. Steamy but not too explicit. A retired cop turned secondhand bookseller and a true crime writer. Both in their forties. They discover a body to the background music of Miles Davis. Police corruption, embezzlement and secret obsession all feature. Only on my first 10k words but it’s cooking nicely. Of course, the hard slog comes at about 30K for me.

Back to it!
