Arrivals and departures
George W Bush is in town today, along with Vladimir Putin, the President of China and a whole lot of other world leaders. They’re here for an APEC meeting.
As a result Sydney has ground to a halt. What ever you think of George W (and I don’t think a lot of him being a left leaning gal) Sydneysiders, while being annoyed that they can’t get around their city, must be pleased they get a public holiday out of the experience. I don’t unfortunately, living too far away in the Blue Mountains.
Sydney does look terrible. There is a giant security fence around the streets, blocking off the habour from the rest of the city. And George W has about 30 cars in his motorcade so all the streets get shut down when he goes anywhere. Don’t know how Washingtonians cope with it. I guess they’re used to it.
And farewell Luciano Pavarotti. I heard a woman on the radio today who said she saw him in Sydney 15 years ago. When he came out on the stage she thought yuk, fat, sweaty and a terrible hair dye job. After 5 minutes of singing, she wanted to have his babies. So listen and enjoy.

Back into it
I feel like have had about a month off. Which is kind of true. Conference then sickness has totally knocked me around. I’ve hardly written anything and not been too keen to do so. This morning I had a look at my latest wip and realised I need to cut a whole scene. So snip, snip.
It’s spring here and my garden has taken off despite shocking neglect from me. This time I’m not going to resist with thought that I should be writing. I need other forms of creativity or else my writing dries up. Here are some snaps.

Muscari

Manchurian Pear

Flowering Cherry
