Blogging at HEA Cafe

I’m bloggging at The HEA Cafe about story ideas.

The past

week has been hopeless writing wise for me. Going to a conference and then away for the weekend threw out my routine. Now I have a job application to write which is a task not unlike pulling teeth. I hope to be able to get back to wip by mid week. Then do some promo for Familiar Strangers!

Judging and decision time

Nothing written this morning because I have a whole lot of judging to complete. And I have to make a decision about whether to apply for a new job. I was flattered yesterday when I was approached to apply, but it does mean the travel time involved in getting to this job will cut into my writing time. On the other hand, it’s a great job. What to do, what to do?

Retail therapy

Yesterday after work, I was in dire need of distraction. A girl needs a break from paid work and work for love (which is what writing is). So off I went to browse a couple of shops and came home with two pairs of earrings, a Murano glass heart pendant (red and a deep blue) and three books (of course).

The books:

Charlotte Wood’s The Children (she’s an Australian writer whose other book, The Submerged Cathedral I loved);

Harlan Coben’s Promise Me (a writer who’s become a must read for me);

Barbara Nadel’s A Passion for Killing (set in Turkey with a Turkish cop - sounds great).

1,042 words today. Much better.

Words going up

Slowly, but the little ticker on the right is going up. 564 words this morning which is better than nothing. I’m having one of those writing sessions where I’m scratchy and can’t focus. Back to it.

Few more words. 625.

Silly stuff

Well, a generator or two is always fun. Sven starts today in my neck of the woods and wouldn’t you know it, I woke up with a blinding headache from a stiff and sore neck. Too much time on the computer.

No words

Damn it! Nothing written this morning and probably none tonight. But a new character popped up yesterday who has great potential for lots of conflict between the hero and heroine, then result in some final redemption for the hero, who’s a bit of a bastard. All to the good.
