Mid winter

I’ve been extraordinarily busy the last couple of weeks. And I’ve been sick. The usually fluey things, but I went to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland for a five day holiday and had a blissful three days but then got an appalling bout of gastroenteritis. I can’t remember ever being that sick.

To top it off my flight back to NSW was cancelled by Jetstar. I’d never flown with them before this holiday because I’d heard too many bad things. Lots of flight cancellations, lots of bad customer service. My experience was exactly like this, so no more Jetstar for me. I’d rather pay more, get home on time and be sick in the privacy of my own home.

Today there was an article in the Good Weekend section of the Sydney Morning Herald in which several women listed the money they spent on beauty activities in a year. A couple of women spent almost $20,000 on cosmetics, massage, hair cuts, gym and beauty treatments. I was astounded. I had to really think about what I spend. All up I think it’s about $1,000. Even that seems terribly extravagant. Think of how many trips they could have gone on if they hadn’t spent all that money!
