Blocking out and hot water

procrastinationI’m doing some plotting and planning for all of October so I can start NanoWriMo in November and know what I’m doing. I don’t normally write like this, but I’ve always been a frustrated plotter, so I’m giving it a go, but with spaciousness not rigidity.

So premises, character profiles and an outline are all on the boil. But as ever, it’s a struggle with procrastination. Currently I’m reading Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie so I write a bit, go and read a few pages, check my hot water and come back to the computer.

My hot water is only working after about 7 or 8 in the morning depending on what day it is. It’s a new apartment block so there are ongoing negotiations with all and sundry. It’s really thrown out my writing ritual in the morning, which isn’t such a bad thing, since it’s good training for writing without such rituals. But nevertheless it’s a major pain the the derriere.

I can see today is a today where procrastination has taken over. Let’s see if I can really break my rituals and do some writing tonight.
